Winter Camping Rendezvous January 2025
Winter Camping Rhonda-vous January 2025
Join Snowtrekker Tents at the Kickapoo Valley Reserve for the Winter Camping Rendezvous January 9th through the 12th.
The Kickapoo Valley Reserve is a large nature reserve and outdoor recreation area located in the heart of the Driftless area in southwestern Wisconsin encompassing 8,600 acres of land along the Kickapoo River. The reserve was established in the 1990s to protect the environmentally sensitive Kickapoo River and its surrounding watershed from potential dam construction. The dam proposal was ultimately abandoned, and the area was designated as a reserve to preserve its natural beauty and provide opportunities for outdoor recreation, education, and sustainable land use.
The reserve contains a variety of habitats, including forests, wetlands, and grasslands. It offers numerous recreational activities such as hiking, bird watching, fishing, canoeing, hunting, and camping. Ther are also interpretive programs and events that focus on the natural and cultural history of the region.
Snowtrekker Tents is thankful we can continue to host the annual winter camping rendezvous in honor of our great friend Rhonda Reynolds, a great ambassador for our winter camping community, who so capably organized the Sawmill Lake Rendezvous for many years. This year is the third gathering at the KVR in honor of Rhonda and will be an amazing weekend of fun and camaraderie. Our event will run in conjunction with the Kickapoo Valley Reserve Winterfest held just down the road from our camp. Activities at the Winterfest include sledding, skiing, snow sculpture, ice formation hikes, wildlife talks, horse-drawn bobsled rides and many other fun activities.
Come join us at the Rhonda-vous for a laidback weekend of community and camaraderie. We will have nightly bonfires and group tents to hang out and share stories in. We will provide firewood on site, and water will be available at the Kickapoo Valley Reserve visitor center. Saturday night, Luke Zahm, the James Beard nominated chef and owner of the Driftless Café, and host of the PBS show Wisconsin Foodie will graciously prepare dinner for all of us. If the last two meals are anything to go by it will be an amazing dining experience once again.
The winter camping Rhonda-vous will run Thursday January 9th till Sunday January 12th. Registration for the event is $20.00 per person. All registration proceeds are donated to the KVR to help them continue connecting people to nature. All you need to bring is a tent, food for meals other than Saturday night and sleeping gear. Firewood and porta potties will be provided on site. The deadline to register is January 4th.
