Our tents do not come with floors. Ground tarps are sold separately.

Stoves are purchased separately.

Tent stakes are sold separately.

Yes, they are treated to CPAI-84 flame retardancy.

No, they are Sunforger treated for water, mold and mildew repellency. This maintains the canvas breathability so moisture can pass through the canvas to keep you and your gear dry while keeping moisture out.

Stoves need to be kept a minimum of 20 inches from all walls of the tent.

Yes, you can. We offer the options to add a stove jack cover, mosquito net door and window for 4 season use.

Yes, the Sunforger water repellent treatment allows moisture vapor to pass through the fabric while shedding water. You will stay dry in a Snowtrekker in a July rainstorm.

Once you are familiar with setting your tent up it takes on average 15 minutes or less to fully set up. From the start of setting up until being fully moved into the tent, enjoying a warm fire in the stove, is usually between 30-45 minutes.

The size of tent you need is based on how many people you anticipate needing to use it and whether you sleep on cots or ground pads. We offer different sizes and models to cover up to 7-8 people on ground pads or 6 on cots. If you are unsure of the size, please reach out to us, and we can help guide you to the right tent for your needs.

The pannier packable tents we make for Beau Baty are custom designed for Wilderness Ridge Trail Llamas and are available for purchase exclusively through him. They come as a package deal - it includes pannier packing poles, stove jack cover, light weight tie in ground tarp, and stakes.

Yes, we use our stoves to cook every time we camp in the winter. During the summer months we use best practices for the area and wildlife we are camping with.

Set up your tent as you normally would, but instead of staking the tent out shovel 8-10 inches of snow on the snow flap to hold the tent in place. The sidewall guy outs can be anchored with ‘deadmen’ buried in the snow or tied out to trees or bushes.

We recommend sizing a stove to cover the coldest temperature you expect to use your tent in. Our recommended sizes for our tents are chosen to be able to keep you comfortable to -25°f/-31°c

The lifespan of your tent is highly dependent on how much you use your tent and how well you care for it. With normal use you will get many years of enjoyment out of your tent. Extended exposure to high UV rays and improper care and storage will shorten the lifespan of your tent. See our tent care guidelines for information on how to properly care for your tent. We routinely see tents still in use that are 10 plus years old.

Snowtrekker Tents must be completely dry before packing away to prevent mildew from forming. NEVER store a tent when damp. Never keep a tent set up for long periods of time in a location where it will not dry out. We recommend hanging your tent after using it until it is dry, and gently bushing any debris off. If stored in an area where there is a potential of rodent contact we recommend storing it in some sort of a plastic tote.

  1. Use clean tap water with soft brush, OR
  2. Clean with tap water from house using spray nozzle
  3. Brush with medium soft bristle brush,

DO NOT use solvents, soaps or detergents

Washing or scrubbing the tent will have an adverse effect on the flame retardant finish. Petroleum and/or kerosene fumes may adversely affect the treatment of the fabric. Care should be taken to keep fabric clean from any foreign substances, especially acid forming chemicals and staining. If fabric has been exposed to salt water, wash with a hose using tap water. If insect repellent is used around the tent fabric, do not spray directly on the fabric. An agent in most sprays used as a propellant will damage water repellent finishes.

If you intend on setting your tent up for an extended period of time there are a few things you need to consider for the protection and lifespan of your tent. You want to be sure that you are set up in an area with good drainage to keep your tent as dry as possible to prevent canvas rot and mildew from forming. If you are setting up for shorter, but still extended periods of time (a few weeks to a month) we recommend that you purchase a rainfly for your tent. This helps with both protecting your tent from extended exposure to damaging uv rays, as well as keeping your tent as dry as possible.

If you are leaving your tent set up as a more permanent set up we recommend building a platform with a roof structure.

Our molded plastic guy out clips and unions are rated to well below -60F before they crack or deform. There is a tradeoff to making sure our clips do not fail in extreme cold conditions. Under certain conditions of high heat, 85F and warmer, with high winds of 30 mph or higher, our guy out clips can flex causing them to slip off the guy out poles. In this situation we recommend our CSM coated nylon guy out loops. This has not been a factor with the frame unions in this situation. In cold temperatures we have not had any reports of an adverse events with our resin clips or unions.
